Alanis Morissette brought her tour to the Santa Barbara Bowl on Sept. 27. The feeling was that we were going to hear some great classic Alanis music, what we got was a full blown high energy band with Alanis Morissette guiding us through her music.
Alanis Morissette is a multi American Music Awards, Brit Award, Billboard Music Award, Juno, and Grammy Award winner and it was proof of her talents at the Santa Barbara Bowl.
The top of the show was started with “All I Really Want”, Alanis delivered a well-orchestrated set of greatest hits with her band; Jason Orme Guitar, Cedric LeMoyne Bass, Victor Indrizzo Drums, and Michael Farrell, Keyboards, and Julian Coryell Guitar.
The energy was high, Alanis was striding back and forth on stage with black boots, black pants and a gray jacket with silver edges, she cropped her trademark long, dark hair which was a surprise to all but it all make sense. Alanis walked up to each band member playing harmonica as if tuning the band and ready for a night of great music. Her voice was so powerful that at times she held to hold the mic away.
Morissette was current in the 90’s and is current in 2018. As the hits kept coming the audience was on their feet singing along with her.
Ruth-Anne Cunningham opened up Alanis Morissette. The Irish / Dublin born singer-songwriter has worked behind the scenes, writing songs for Niall Horan, Britney Spears and One Direction. Ruth-Anne is now on a solo path of her own.
