As all good things come to an end, the Greek’s fall concert series of 2013 ended this past weekend. Sacramento rockers the Deftones were seen on stage on Friday, Nov.1st, throwing out high fives to fans as former bassist Chi Cheng did so many times before his tragic passing last April. Cheng was involved in a car accident in 2008 and had been in a “state of lowered consciousness” (aka a coma) ever since. Sergio Vega, formerly of Quicksand, has been fulfilling Cheng’s role as bassist since 2009. Cheng passed away on Apr. 13, 2013 due to a sudden heart attack only months after the release of their latest album, Koi No Yokan.
The show at the Greek also marked the end of an arduous, 16-month tour for the Deftones. The tour promoting their seventh studio album spanned across the Americas and a few stops in the U.K. In the album’s first week on the shelves it sold a staggering 65,000 copies in the US alone, landing them at the 11th spot on The Billboard 200 Chart.
