Weezer, Rose Tours Announce The Weezer Cruise 2014

Two years after their first music festival-at-sea set sail, Grammy® Award-winning group Weezer and cruise company Rose Tours have announced the 2014 edition of The Weezer Cruise.  Launching from Jacksonville, FL on February 13, the rock-and-roll cruise will hit new Caribbean ports—including Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas—as fans celebrate Valentine’s Day and President’s Day weekend with their favorite bands, before returning to port on February 17.  Main headliners Weezer will perform three sets during the cruise, including an unprecedented “Beach Concert with Weezer” on their own private island.  In addition, the cruise will feature a variety of acts hand-selected by the members of Weezer, to be announced soon at www.theweezercruise.com.

The Weezer Cruise will bring fans on board a world class cruise ship to experience deluxe accommodations during an incredible four days and nights across the Caribbean Sea.  Besides checking out performances throughout each day and night, cruisers will also get a rare chance to see their favorite musicians off-stage as well, with a special fan Q&A session with Weezer; an interactive Weezer Game Show; and a photo session for all guests with the band.  There will also be evening Theme Nights; complimentary meals; a one-hour open bar Cocktail Party; and much more.  Each of the bands on the cruise will also participate in special activities with fans. With performers playing continuously every day at various on-board venues, fans will be able to get close for most sets, with no long lines for the bar. A continually updated list of 2014 cruise activities can be found at www.theweezercruise.com/.
In addition to all the Weezer Cruise activities, the ship features an incredible array of amenities for guests, including: 24-hour room service; a fitness center with gym as well as yoga and Pilates sessions; two swimming pools and a whirlpool; a variety of casual and gourmet dining options; an art gallery; internet café; gaming options for adults and kids, including mini golf, table tennis and more; karaoke rooms; a library; a video arcade; comedy performances; a casino featuring blackjack, craps and poker tournaments; a hair and beauty salon; spa treatments; duty-free shopping options; and much more.
The first edition of the Weezer Cruise in 2012 was a smash success, as the band brought along 15 acts including Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, Wavves, The Antlers, Yuck, Free Energy, Sleeper Agent, and others to entertain 2,000 lucky cruise-goers.  In addition to Weezer’s concerts, band members got up close and personal with fans: Rivers Cuomo did a reading from the Pinkerton Diaries; Brian Bell hosted a “Movie Night” complete with p.j.s and robes; Pat Wilson ran a shuffleboard tournament; and Scott Shriner led couples through wedding vow renewals.  Other fun themed activities included an “Ugly Sweater Night,” “Weezer Karaoke,” belly flop competitions, beer tastings, and much more.
Reporting on the 2012 Weezer Cruise, The New York Times declared that “it was awesome….many had come for the floating music festival, a chance to pack the afternoons and evenings listening to bands they knew, or to discover new ones.”  The artists were equally impressed, with Weezer drummer Pat Wilson telling Rolling Stone that “It was pretty magical….It was surreal….It was insane.”  A reporter for The Guardian declared that “nothing could prepare me for the awesomeness of the Weezer Cruise,” while a Billboard scribe noted that “watching Rivers [Cuomo] clamor into the audience…now bathing in the love of the devoted family that Weezer has built over the past 20 years is something I won't soon forget.”  SPIN summed up the experience afterwards as follows: “Weezer superfans are currently recovering from their weekend in Heaven, otherwise known as the 2012 Weezer Cruise.”
