One of the hardest things to do in music is reinvent the wheel. But some would argue it’s better than simply playing it safe. Produced by Matt Bayless (Caspian, Minus The Bear, Russian Circles), These Small Spaces lays groundwork for amazing soundscapes through eight tracks, but the problem is... they rarely form a compelling piece of art. The album’s single, “Belle Muerte,” is the exception, with a string lead that tugs listeners’ hearts out above a foundation of epic ambience that won’t let go.
