Republic Records Sponsors "Music For Newtown" Online Auction

republicrecordsExtending a helping hand in the aftermath of the devastating Newtown tragedy last December, Republic Records will sponsor the "Music For Newtown" auction. Numerous artists have donated special limited-edition items to the cause, and all proceeds will benefit the "Sandy Hook School Support Fund," which will support the long-term recovery needs of the Newtown community.

So far, items include two tickets to see Tim McGraw on June 30 in New Jersey, autographed guitars from The Eagles and 3 Doors Down, signed Jack Johnson Vinyl, signed Colbie Caillat songbooks, CDs, a comic book, and another guitar. Also up for auction are a signed drumhead from Of Monsters and Men's 2012 US Fall Tour, a limited-edition tour poster, and more. Autographed CDs have also come from fun., Jewel, Five For Fighting, Owl City, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. TBA items will be available from the likes of Taylor Swift, Gotye, Florence + the Machine, Austin Mahone, and more.

The auction is set to go live on its own site from March 25 until March 27. Be sure to check out the "Music For Newtown" web site, Facebook, and Twitter for more information.

100% of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the "Sandy Hook School Support Fund" set up through Newtown Savings Bank/United Way of Western Connecticut. United Way of Western Connecticut has waived their fees so all the money will go directly to Newtown. Funds will provide support services to the families and community that have been affected.

Donations are also accepted directly through the site during the auction or by sending "Music For Newtown" a check made out to "Sandy Hook School Support Fund".

The label's Senior Director of Artist Relations Beth Bogdan founded "Music For Newtown" in order to unite the community and give back to all those affected by this event. In order to give back to her hometown, she orchestrated the online auction and spearheaded the charitable cause.
