Red Bull Music Academy Festival Los Angeles On Sale Now

Red Bull Music Academy has announced the west coast debut of its month-long festival. Taking place throughout October, Red Bull Music Academy Festival Los Angeles will celebrate the musical and cultural diversity of Los Angeles, from conversations with creative trailblazers to concerts and club nights that showcase the ever-evolving sounds of the city. Adding to the diverse list of names previously announced as part of the festival, Flying Lotus has been confirmed to perform his new 3D show over two nights, co-headlining with Brainfeeder bass virtuoso Thundercat. Tickets for all performances and the conversation with Ice-T are on sale now via la.redbullmusicacademy.com. Tickets for conversations with directors Edgar Wright and Floria Sigismondi, punk icon Alice Bag and more will go on sale in the coming weeks.

Among the events that will take place in uniquely LA locations: St. Vincent: Fear The Future, a collaboration between St. Vincent and Willo Perron bringing St. Vincent’s material to life in technicolor at Paramount Pictures Studios’ New York backlot; the reunion of Uncle Jamm’s Army—the crew that laid the blueprint for electro and rap with Ice-T, Egyptian Lover and Arabian Prince—at the now-defunct Skateland USA in Compton, a location they threw some of their most legendary parties at in the ‘80s; Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda creating the world’s largest synth orchestra in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, with help from 100 powerful car sound systems and their owners; and Todo Es Metal, the extremely loud celebration that will see extreme Mexican metal bands and Latinx-led groups from LA playing side by side at the Los Angeles Theatre in downtown Los Angeles’ Broadway Theatre District.

The festival will not only see the use of traditional and new spaces but will also create a totally new one with OPEN BETA, a temporary multimedia performance space created, transformed and directed by visual artist Taran Allen. OPEN BETA will be the site of a series of individually crafted audio-visual experiences that explore various musical worlds including events with Arca, SOPHIE, Eartheater and more.

Throughout the month of October, Red Bull Radio (redbullradio.com) will feature LA-focused programming, including event live streams from the festival, conversations with featured artists on the station’s daily Peak Time show, and more.
