Perform Grammy Afterparty

Perform and Attend a Grammy Afterparty

VIP Award Showcases is producing the “Uptown Funk Grammy Afterparty!,” a Grammy weekend industry party on Sunday, Feb. 12, to celebrate another year in music and to honor influential musicians and bands.

In addition to live performances by members of legendary groups (Parliament, Funkadelic, James Brown, Bootsy Collins, Cameo, Rick James, Gap Band, Prince NewPowerGeneration, the Time, Lakeside, Dazz Band, Mary Jane Girls and special surprise guests) there will be a red carpet for photos and interviews as well as live announcements about Grammy winners as the telecast airs on the West Coast.

“An ‘Uptown Funk’ jam of epic proportions, truly one nation under a groove”, states event mastermind and co-host Jay Warsinske. “You can hear these greats’ influence on modern hits by Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Major Lazer and countless others!” Along with his co-host and music director, Frankie “Kash” Waddy, both hosts feel that the influence of funk music that emerged in the ‘70s deserves its place in the Grammys and recognition from today’s hitmakers.

“The whole foundation of West Coast hip-hop (Dr. Dre, Snoop, Ice Cube), funky alternative (Chili Peppers, 311, Diplo) and dance party music (Black Eyed Peas, Madonna, Major Lazer, DJ Snake) is based on the funk that pioneers like James Brown, George Clinton, Prince and more created coming up!” says Waddy. “It’s time that the Grammys, the media and artists who depend on it pay their due respect to the legends!”

A few artists will get the opportunity to open up the event for legendary players and singers. The event will take place on Feb. 12 from 7 p.m. - 1 a.m. at Skinnys Entertainment Center (including Pyramido Restaurant) at 4923 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601, in the NoHo Arts District.

Tickets are on sale for $40 at EventBrite. Music Connection readers can get on the limited free guest list by emailing your name and the number of people in your party: [email protected].
