Musicians Invited to The Invitational Jam

Mickey Melchiondo, aka Dean Ween, will host “The Invitational Jam” every Wednesday night at John and Peter’s in New Hope, PA. The Invitational is an opportunity for hungry or inspiring musicians, eager to jam with a hero or sharpen their chops. The audience is equally integral, feeding and giving back to the freewheeling musicians (led by Melchiondo).

The idea behind The Invitational is that there is a house band consisting of members of Parliament-Funkadelic, Ween (the entire band), Vincent Martell of Vanilla Fudge and other notable musicians of rock’s elite, spanning the last three decades.

John and Peter’s on Main St. in New Hope is the oldest continuously operated live music venue in the U.S. Ween have called John and Peter’s home since forming a collective in 1984. The internationally renowned duo grew up in New Hope and have called it home ever since, eschewing L.A. and NY in favor of hometown sanctity.

This unique opportunity is the call to musicians (of all backgrounds and experience) to play original or cover music backed by a band of master musicians. Admission is free.

Note: There is a signup sheet where you can play your respective instrument and the music starts promptly at 9 p.m. and is finished by 1 a.m. There is virtually no time in between sets, except for the change-over of the other musicians. Interested musicians are encouraged to bring their guitar, bass, drumsticks, horn or vocal chops.

As Melchiondo puts it, “Nothing beats touring and playing music live in front of a hungry audience and music lovers. The fan that doesn’t have other like-minded musicians to jam with doesn’t get this experience. Hence, we present The Invitational.”
