John Mayer

John Mayer at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA

John Mayer played the Honda Center Tuesday night as part of his Search For Everything Tour. What sets this tour apart, from past tours, is it consists of different parts of Mayer's career. From a full band in the beginning,  to an acoustic set of Mayer with his guitarist David Ryan Harris, followed by the John Mayer trio and then back to the full band. The show was filled with amazing visuals shown on the big screen behind the stage.

The show was broken up into chapters as seen on the screen and the stage layout changed for each one. Before each set, the screen would list the chapter and what was to come followed by a video segment like during the John Mayer trio part where a video of Mayer, drummer Steve Jordan and bassist Pino Palladino all talk about the formation and history of the trio and being on the road again.

Chapter 1- Full Band started with "Helpless," included a short cover of 2pac's "California Love" and ended with one of his biggest hits "Waiting On the World to Change."
Chapter 2- The acoustic chapter consisted of three songs, "Emoji of a Wave," a cover of Tom Petty's "Free Fallin'" and "Stop this Train."
Chapter 3- Trio was also 3 songs, this chapter included "Who Did You Think I Was?," "Wait Until Tomorrow" a cover of Jimi Hendrix and ended with "Vultures"
Chapter 4- Full Band Reprise started with "Who Says" and included a cover of Prince's "The Beautiful Ones," sang by Harris. Chapter 4 ended with "Why Georgia."
The band came back again for an encore of "In the Blood," and "Gravity," with Mayer ended on "You're Gonna Live Forever In Me" (Solo piano)
