Guild of Music Supervisors Announces Nominees

The Guild of Music Supervisors has announced the nominees for their sixth annual awards event taking place on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles. The awards will recognize outstanding Music Supervisors in 15 categories representing Motion Picture, Television, Games and Trailers.

This year, Chris Montan, president of Walt Disney Music, will receive the first-ever “Guild Of Music Supervisors Legacy Award,” a career-based award for excellence in the field of music in media. The evening will also feature special performances, which will be announced at a later date.

John Houlihan, The President of the Guild of Music Supervisors, commented, “The work of a Music Supervisor enhances the storytelling in all media forms and our guild awards celebrate the creative achievements that have given billions of viewers a deeper experience over the past year.”

Motion Pictures including Cobain: Montage of Heck, Creed, Paper TownsPitch Perfect 2 and Straight Outta Compton are a sampling of the films that received nominations. American Crime, American Idol, Better Call Saul, Girls and Nashville are included in the television categories.

In the Games category, Bloodborne, Star Wars Battlefront, Guitar Hero Live and FIFA 16 were highlighted as nominees. Film Trailer nominations include Steve Jobs, The Martian, The Angry Birds, Captain America Civil War and Suicide Squad.

For the first time The Guild of Music Supervisors has selected The Theatre at Ace Hotel to host their awards to call attention to the role music has contributed to the history of motion picture. The Theatre at Ace Hotel is a restored movie venue from the ‘20s and serves Los Angeles' burgeoning epicenter for art and modern entertainment.
