Silversun Pickups’ first release in three
years finds them mining an approach that’s
a little more electronic sounding than some
of their past releases. Lots of sequenc
ing patterns and a fairly less human drum
sound gives them more of a New Wave feel
than before. They definitely know how to put together a winning formula for their style: your fave androgynous vocals, and a pulsating beat combining guitar and keys in a melodic wall of sound. Any one of these songs deserves to be a hit, although after a while the same approach to 10 different songs dilutes the initial impact. – David Arnson
