Andy Summers - album review

Music Album Review: Andy Summers - "Triboluminescence" (7/10)

Andy Summers describes Triboluminescence (his 14th solo release) as “the result of a lifetime of receiving influence, digesting it and trying to create a new voice.” The guitarist’s “new exotic” approach shuns convention to experiment with world beat, alternate tunings and unique sound design. The former Policeman carves his own niche on tracks like the ambient and emotive “If Anything,” the African-flavored “Adinkra” and the swinging Weather Report-like “Shadyland.” Much like Belew and Holdsworth, Summers creates soundscapes that elevate the guitar to unearthly heights.
